Cute 3000 Years Old Women’s Sandals from Ancient Egipt + Ancient Greek Boots bonus
I always like to see in museums ancient pieces of clothing and footwear. I somehow feel they bring us closer to the ancient people, perhaps in a more intimate fashion than observing their ruins and tools. I also like to see these pieces because many times they are surprisingly similar to today’s fashion. Once again, this makes me feel closer to ancient people, considering that our mentality is not so different from theirs.
For instance, I found these ancient Egyptian sandals in Neues Musem in Berlin.
Even though we live in the Age of Internet, some things in which people aren’t very interested, are still scarce online. This is the situation with ancient pieces of clothing and footwear. While a simple Google search won’t get you many results, in almost any museum with ancient stuff you will find some interesting pieces.
Although this is true in most cases, I did find something VERY interesting on the internet. I came across these 3000 y.o. Ancient Greek terracotta boots (for burial process – they didn’t actually walk in terracotta 🙂 ) that look very modern!
In fact, I do own a pair of similar boots and similar sandals and I find it absolutely amazing that we are 5000 years apart, yet we dress the same.
