The Magic of November…
For me, November brings a certain magic. I will try to list a few of my favorite November particularities. The coziness The summer sun is gone, as well its energy with all the swimming pools and seas sides and splashes and sand on your feet and dance music and cold beers… The uncomfortable heat is gone as well, the desperate need to drink tons of water and the preoccupation not to stay in sun for too long. Silly Monstober is gone as well. The winter is not here yet, with its frost, heavy snow, dirty snow after heavy snow, cold cold cold, Christmas hysteria… It’s just this cozy weather, with…

Bronze Age Blazer & Other Clothing Items
Some time ago I came across an article on the internet about some new bronze age items discovery. I don’t remember if there were some skeletons as well, but what caught my attention was the clothing. I was amazed by the bronze age fashion style, especially by the clear cut blazer: The blouse and the skirt didn’t strike me as much as the blazer. But the blazer is really amazing, it’s almost modern times. The fashion style of this blazer shows deep concern towards both aesthetics and functionality of ancient people. This leads to the fact that bronze age people weren’t as primitive as some modern persons might think. I…

Let Monstober Begin Wish Some Great Movies!
The summer heat is finally gone for good! We can officially chill, put on a blanket, read a book… Besides, Monstober is here and it is spooky and scaaaaary! And FUN 😀 😀 😀 The thing I like about Monstober is that I get to watch almost every day one of my favorite movies. Usually these movies are on TV, so it is very nice to follow the October’s TV program. Here is a list with my Monstober movies: 1. Beetlejuice (1988) Ever since I was a child I have been in love with this movie. Geena Davis looked great, Tim Burton was only 30 y.o., people were more relaxed…

The Al Bundy way of drinking beer
Al Bundy is notoriously known for coming home from work and drinking a nice cold beer. You could almost feel the man’s need to chill, sit on the couch and drink that beer. He was tired, life was complicated, beer was a tasty confort. As a child, watching this show, I never really realized how relaxing it would be to drink a beer after hard work. But now I know. Me and my friends got the habit to come home from work and just relax and drink a beer. And we just talked about how much we resemble with Al Bundy. But there’s a catch. We drink non-alcoholic beer! So…

Funny short videos for learning German
Apart from actually studying the German language, it’s good to watch German movies (or just German TV, because all the movies are dubbed in German), to listen to radio, to read small, easy stories written in German and so on. 1st Step: One of my favorite TV entertainers is Martina Hill. She got really famous for Knallerfrauen, some very good comedy sketches, really underrated. One episode is about 30 minutes long, but on the Knallerfrauen Youtube Channel the sketches are posted individually (about 2 minutes each) and it is tiring to see them like this. Anyhow, you can take a look and maybe buy the whole Knallerfrauen series. These is a…

Good book about the history of modern art – How to get a comprehensive idea about it
I’m not even starting about what modern art is. Probably most of you think about crazy stuff that doesn’t resemble the naturalistic depictions of Renaissance. Some say modern art started with Renaissance. Same say it started with impressionists. Some say it is the avant-garde. Some say avant-garde is dada. Some say avant-garde is transgressive art. And then there is a whole other discussion about when did it end… I personally like to think modern art as a continuous flux of change. But the modern art we have in mind when we say “modern art”, that unconvential crazy stuff like van Gogh, Picasso, Munch, Duchamp and so on, I like to think…

What happened to Martina Hill and Knallerfrauen?
One of my favorite TV entertainers is Martina Hill. She got really famous for Knallerfrauen – some very good comedy sketches, really underrated. She and her crew from Knallerfrauen certainly deserve more recognition. Is Knallerfrauen canceled? I don’t know what it has been happening with that show. It isn’t officially over, but the next season kind of got postponed and the last episode was released in 2015 :/. Since then, we’ve all been expecting to watch season 5 of Knallerfrauen, but we haven’t had any luck. Why isn’t there a season 5? What I don’t understand is why did they stop something so good and famous?! This is beyond my…

Non-alcoholic punch problem in american high school (or college) movies
Punch is a cocktail drink originating from India and it is served in a large bowl. It is popular in many European countries, but I think it got world wide famous through american high school / college movies where kids drink punch at parties. In Germany we have a similar drink, a little bit more interesting I’d say. It is called Feuerzangenbowle and it is served in flames. Punch usually contains ingredients such as: alcohol, fruit juice and, optionally, tea and spices. In american movies, especially high school movies, there is this recurring scene with some kid pours alcohol in the non-alcoholic punch that is being served at the party. The…
