Why is Nina Hagen so cool?

Nina Hagen is one of the most iconic female singers of all time.

She has been ruling the punk scene for like 50 years.

There are 2 things I particularly love about Nina Hagen:

1. She is very original with her clothing style;
2. She has kept her style over the years.

She is also known for her outrageous behavior. For instance, here is Nina showing on Live TV how a woman can reach orgasm…

I find it absolutely amazing and worthy of appreciation that she is the same person she was 40-50 years ago. Take a look at her interviews nowdays and you will see the same rebel punk girl she was a few decades ago. This means she has always been true to herself and, of course, true to the world.

A lot of “rebel” teens end up ordinary boring middle-aged people. They renounce so easily their older self and they integrate so easily into the ordinary world they used to reject and condemn. This means they weren’t true. They were a forgery. An illusion. Plain marketing. Or whatever.

But Nina Hagen kept her style despite getting older, being a mom of two children, getting rich and famous and so on. For this very reason I find her truly inspiring.
