Kyle Willis – An interesting artist
Kyle Willis is an artist based in Florida. He creates some interesting drawings and collage artworks. I know about him because I saw on the internet (9gag maybe) these 2 cool collage artworks (Darth Vader and Darth Maul – dunno who the last one is, but seems cool :D): These collages were made by sticking tiny little pieces cut up pages of comic books. I think they are really impressive because: Even though a lot of this type of art is somehow kitschy, these 2 are definitely not. They are inspired and the work is carefully done and the colors blend really well in the mosaic and also they are eye-catching.…

Let Monstober Begin Wish Some Great Movies!
The summer heat is finally gone for good! We can officially chill, put on a blanket, read a book… Besides, Monstober is here and it is spooky and scaaaaary! And FUN 😀 😀 😀 The thing I like about Monstober is that I get to watch almost every day one of my favorite movies. Usually these movies are on TV, so it is very nice to follow the October’s TV program. Here is a list with my Monstober movies: 1. Beetlejuice (1988) Ever since I was a child I have been in love with this movie. Geena Davis looked great, Tim Burton was only 30 y.o., people were more relaxed…

From Dusk Till Dawn “Dance Scene” vs. Rammstein’s Engel Video
“Engel” (1997) was one of the first Rammstein videos I’ve watched. I was mesmerized by it. I particularly liked the woman’s dance with the snake and whiskey pouring part. I thought she was very very sexy. And the song was amazing. The dancer is very expressive but unfortunately I couldn’t find her name. Update: Happily, someone pointed out that the dancer’s name is Cécile Dütsch (here is her Linkedin account). On Rammstein Belgium (best Rammstein fan page) I found a copy from what it looks to be a magazine: Although no one knows the dancer’s name, we do know the female singer’s name. She is Christiane Bobolina Hebold. Although she doesn’t…

3500 Old Minoan Miniature – New Amazing Discovery
I was very excited to find about this new discovery made in 2017 in Pylos, Greece. It is a miniature in bronze. This is a recent sketch showing what the miniature depicts: The composition is amazing and the crafting is also very well done. There are little findings of this sort and it really shows that the ancients were very advanced. Usually we can find this type of craftsmanship and high-aesthetic works of art around 400 BC in Ancient Greece, but this one dates around 1500 BC!

Cool Summer Movie: Overboard (2018) – Romantic Comedy
[NO SPOILERS] I’ve just watched the movie Overboard and I can definitely say it is this summer’s movie. It is a romantic comedy, co-production of America and Mexic, with sun and sky and ocean, cool music, and great vibe. It is very sweet and funny and the actors are adorable. The plot is well written, high above your average script. I liked it very much, but when I read the reviews on Imdb I was a bit disappointed. Lots of people didn’t appreciate this movie because it is a remake of the 1987 Overboard movie. I didn’t watch the original movie, but I watched the trailer and I can surely say…

Bathroom decoration: the 3 seashells
While surfing the internet, I came across a great idea for bathroom decoration! *insert giggle* For those who don’t know what this is about, there was this movie, Demolition Man (1993), where a 20th Century Sylvester Stallone wakes up in a high-tech future. Everything is nice and sleek, cars drive themselves, people are very advanced and you get a ticket if you swear. Stallone needs to use the toilet and when he needs to wipe his ass he sees no toilet paper, but only 3 seashells. When he gets out of the bathroom, he asks the future-people: “How do you use the 3 seashells?”. His interlocutors star laughing, considering that he…

Good book about the history of modern art – How to get a comprehensive idea about it
I’m not even starting about what modern art is. Probably most of you think about crazy stuff that doesn’t resemble the naturalistic depictions of Renaissance. Some say modern art started with Renaissance. Same say it started with impressionists. Some say it is the avant-garde. Some say avant-garde is dada. Some say avant-garde is transgressive art. And then there is a whole other discussion about when did it end… I personally like to think modern art as a continuous flux of change. But the modern art we have in mind when we say “modern art”, that unconvential crazy stuff like van Gogh, Picasso, Munch, Duchamp and so on, I like to think…

MOVIE REVIEW: Mean Girls (2004) – One of the best
1. General thoughts about Mean Girls movie Mean Girls was preceded by some similar glamorous-mean movies as Heathers (1988), Cruel Intentions (1999) and Jawbreaker (1999) (tip for those looking for some Mean Girls similar movies). All of these movies are first class cinema creations, each one having its own personal flavor, its uniqueness, but none of them is as eloquent for the 90s – early 2000 generation as Mean Girls. For those girls born around the year 1990, Mean Girls is probably the best chick flick/ teenage movie / high school / mean girls movie ever. It also became a classic. If you have a passion for movies, then Mean…

The hipster spirit of Albrecht Dürer (in a funny way)
Albrecht Dürer… one of the best painters in the world. Born in Nuremberg in 1471, he was the true master of German Renaissance. His paintings were so fluid, his technique so good, his hand so steady… A true genius and talent! And he knew it! He painted a lot of selfportraits and you can see right from the beginning his confidence (Despite his confidence, he was not arrogant. He just knew he was really talented.) He created oil paintings, watercolor paintings, drawings and engravings. This is one of the most famous drawings, called Praying Hands. It is simple, clean, yet you can feel the pulsation of life through the veins and…

The art of today. My favorite contemporary painter: JANET HILL
Hi everyone! I am very excited to share with you one of my favorite present day artist, whom I admire and follow ever since I discovered her paintings. I hope I will succeed in writing a nice article about her (more like a short biography + some of my thoughts) and arouse your interest for her work. I’ve been delighting my eyes with her paintings for at least 7 years now, so I thought I should write something about her because there are many people who would love her work but don’t know about her yet. Her name is Janet Hill, she is a canadian painter. She studied art at…
