  • The funny meaning behind Rammstein’s Feuer und Wasser lyrics

The funny meaning behind Rammstein’s Feuer und Wasser lyrics

“Feuer und Wasser” is the 10th song from the album “Rosenrot” by German band Rammstein, released in 2005.

If you listen this song but you don’t speak German, you will hear a deep and profound song, as if it is was about the meaning of life or something like this. Maybe you already know that “Feuer und Wasser” means “Fire and Water” and you might think that the song speaks about them metaphorically, where they are some kind of yin-yang. Anyhow, here is the song (the only normal version I found on Youtube – unfortunately it doesn’t have an official video):

The funny thing is that the song is about a man who swims around in a swimming pool and he sees a beautiful, attractive woman swimming too. What happens next is more likely to take place in his head, overdramatizing (in a hilarious way) the fact that she doesn’t notice him.

So, there are 2 things that make this song really funny:

    1. The contrast between the seriousness of the music and its silly lyrics
    2. The exaggeration of the man’s feelings towards the unknown woman

Here are the lyrics (this is an Unofficial Translation ©2005 Jeremy Williams). Take a look for yourself. I highlighted those which I considered to be the most funny and relevant 🙂 :

    Lyrics

    Translation

It’s beautiful when she swims the breaststroke
Then I can see into her core
Not that the breast is what’s beautiful
    I just swim after her
Sparking dust flows from the center
A firework shoots from her crotch

Fire and water don’t come together
    Can’t be bound, aren’t related
Sunken in sparks, I am aflame
and am burned in the water
    Burned in the water

It’s beautiful when she swims naked
then I want to see her from behind
Not that the breasts are attractive
    Her legs open like scissors
Then from its hiding place, the flame
glows hotly from her thigh-angle [1]

She swims past and doesn’t notice me
I am her shadow, she stands in the light
There is no hope and no confidence

Fire and water don’t come together
    Can’t be bound, aren’t related
Sunken in sparks, I am aflame
and am burned in the water
Like this, the blood boils in my loins
I grab her with wet hands
Smooth as a fish and cold as ice
She won’t waste herself on me
    I know

Fire and water never come together
    Can’t be bound, aren’t related
Sunken in sparks, I am aflame
and am burned in the water

  • REVIEW: The Body Shop COCONUT and SHEA shower creams

REVIEW: The Body Shop COCONUT and SHEA shower creams

I was very excited to receive as a gift these 2 cute little shower creams: The Body Shop Coconut Shower Cream and The Body Shop Shea Shower Cream. I tried each one of them once and I decided to write a review. My general opinion was that they are good products, more hydrating than regular shower gels, but a little bit too pricey for what they have to offer.

I will write below my impressions about each one of these shower creams.

The Body Shop -Shea Bath & Shower Cream

The scent is a little bit masculine. It is very beautiful. I couldn’t say it is my all time favorite scent, but I definitely like it.

What I really like about it is that its parfume lasts a few hours. I spend a lot of time sitting in front of the computer and I like to smell my skin from time to time to feel this really nice scent.

The Body Shop Shea Bath & Shower Cream is also the most hydrating one, but, unfortunately, it is not as hydrating as I wished it was. I still need some hydrating body cream after shower, but the skin feels definitely more hydrated than it feels after using other shower gels / creams.

The Body Shop – Coconut Bath & Shower Cream

This one is very cute. It feels as if I was in Bora Bora. The downside is that it is not as hydrating as the Shea shower cream and the scent doesn’t last. Otherwise, its perfume is very funny, it really smells like coconuts. In fact, it smells so good, that if I would pour this shower cream into a fancy glass and put a tiny colorful umbrella, I bet someone would try to drink it. LOL

    Will I repurchase?

Since my skin tends to be very dry, I can’t use a lot of shower gels, that otherwise are very nice. The Body Shop has only 3 shower creams, that are obviously more hydrating than the gels, and the one that I didn’t try yet is the Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream.

I will definitely repurchase some of these shower creams, although I would like to try a different aroma, probably the Almond one.

P.S. I really like the package’s design. I like how the logo is placed on the main ingredient’s photo. Very nice.

  • The first sip of coffee in the morning is heaven

The first sip of coffee in the morning is heaven

Hi guys! Since coffee makes my mornings so awesome, every day, I thought I should share with you this feeling. So lets star with the beginning. I wake up…

Usually, after I wake up, the first thing that I drink is coffee. Real, simple, dark black coffee. And the moment this beverage touches my tongue, there is this immediate feeling of heaven. If the coffee is good quality and if the brewing was done correctly, the final taste should be, as I said, heaven!

I use a french press to brew my simple coffee and nothing more. I don’t add sugar, nor milk or chocolate. The most important part in this process is to make sure that the coffee will have foam. If it doesn’t have foam, something went wrong. If you drink expresso, then your problems are solved. The expresso machine will make sure to brew perfectly the coffee and to create that expresso-specific foam,, like this one below.

My coffee, on the other hand, since it is french pressed, doesn’t always have foam and if it does, the foam doesn’t look like an expresso one. It looks like this:

I’m not an expert and I don’t know what’s the correlation between this thin foam and heaven, but it is surely very important. It is also very important to drink the coffee at a good temperature, not too hot, since hotness numbs your senses. If the temperature is perfect and the foam is consistent and the coffee is good quality and dark enough, then you’ll be sure to enter heaven…

  • REVIEW: Bundaberg non-alcoholic ginger beer

    REVIEW: Bundaberg non-alcoholic ginger beer

A friend brought me a Bundaberg non-alcoholic ginger beer cute little bottle with a funny kangaroo on it. I usually drink Clausthaler unfiltered non-alcoholic beer. I didn’t know about Bundaberg beer, but since I like alcohol free beers, I was eager to try this one too.

It is an australian beer and I love its kangaroo logo.

I was afraid it would be too spicy, but in fact it has a very subtle ginger taste. It tastes a little bit like a lemonade. It should be very refreshing in summer.

Although I like its subtle, fresh taste, it was a little bit too sweet for me, but all in all I liked it.

  • Community Fridge – Food sharing & a really great idea!

Community Fridge – Food sharing & a really great idea!

I got very excited to find out about a great food sharing project that takes place right now in Glasgow, initiated by Strath Foodsharing Group (see here their Facebook Page).

There is a community fridge, placed inside a building, where anyone can fill it up with food and anyone can take food.

    Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/289848188151274/about/

The people behind this get help also from local stores and other non-profit organisations (Community Arts Centre The Space, Garnethill Multicultural Centre and the Foodsharing Network), who bring them almost out of date food, so that it won’t land into the trash can.

I truly believe this is a great idea and I think it would do wonders if all people in residential ares who live in apartament blocks  would have a community fridge in their building, exchanging food with neighbours and reducing waste.

I have a great appreciation for the team behind Strath Foodsharing Group and I hope that in the future more and more communities will start food sharing.

  • The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up (The Cat Cover Parody)

The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up (The Cat Cover Parody)

The year is 1997. The English band named “The Prodigy” has just released one of the coolest video ever made – Smack My Bitch Up (with the perfect music to go). The video is kind of offensive (for those who get easily offended), very sexy and mysterious, promiscuous and intriguing. Here it is, to refresh your memory:

    https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x17d6h

In 2012 someone had a crazy idea for a remake of the video. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the original poster and creator of the video. It is a pity since he/she has done a great job with this cover. If I was a member of the band, I would have personally congratulated and thanked the person for this fantastic cover. Here it is:

I think this is one of the best video covers / parodies of an official video ever made!

Good job to whomever did this!

  • REVIEW: Yves Rocher Brillance (Shine) Hair Conditioner

REVIEW: Yves Rocher Brillance (Shine) Hair Conditioner

I bought this hair conditioner from a local Yves Rocher store, hoping it will make my hair soft and shiny. I payed 4 EUR on it, so it wasn’t very expensive, nor very cheap.

    What I liked

    • The price is OK.
    • It has 98% natural ingredients.
    • The hair looks slightly shinier, although there is no miraculous effect.
    • It has only 150ml, but it lasts long.

    What I disliked

    • The first time I used it, it had an average smell. Then, it just went worse and worse. Now it smells like dead fish. Happily, the smell washes off and it doesn’t persist in the hair. Maybe the bad smell is because of the natural ingredients… I don’t know, but I don’t like it and it bothers me.
    • The hair is frizzy and hard to comb. I used better conditioners with same amount of shine, but better management of all hair problems.

    Will I repurchase?

No. I will continue searching for a better conditioner.

  • The hipster spirit of Albrecht Dürer (in a funny way)

The hipster spirit of Albrecht Dürer (in a funny way)

Albrecht Dürer… one of the best painters in the world. Born in Nuremberg in 1471, he was the true master of German Renaissance. His paintings were so fluid, his technique so good, his hand so steady… A true genius and talent! And he knew it! He painted a lot of selfportraits and you can see right from the beginning his confidence (Despite his confidence, he was not arrogant. He just knew he was really talented.)

He created oil paintings, watercolor paintings, drawings and engravings.

This is one of the most famous drawings, called Praying Hands. It is simple, clean, yet you can feel the pulsation of life through the veins and the ardor of praying.

Here you can see a famous water color painting: The Rabbit.

And, because he was so cool and chill and didn’t make a fuss about his talent, he just painted and painted, so sure about himself, the 21 Century art lovers thought to make a little bit of fun of him by creating this hipster photo-manipulations on his own self-portraits:

Well, this is Durer, in 1500, totally modern with the hipster sunglasses.

And in the picture below, his most famous self portrait, yet again, “hipsterised” with a selfie:

Well, considering he was part of the Renaissance, we could say he made paintings before it was cool… 🙂

  • One of the best snacks I’ve ever eaten: Whaou! Crepes

One of the best snacks I’ve ever eaten: Whaou! Crepes

When I visited France, a friend gave me a delicious snack. The brand is Whaou! (unfortunately the website is only in french) and the snack is a crepe (it is similar to a pancake, but much better in my opinion). Whaou! has many types of crepes, but the ones I’ve eaten were Cracky Crepes Chocolat et Cereals.

Hmmm… and now about the taste… It is just perfect! The chocolate is not very “milky” and doesn’t leave that milky aftertaste some chocolates do (which I hate). It is not too dark either, it is just the way I like it. Inside the crepe, mixed with the chocolate are some really crispy little cereal balls. The crepe itself is delicious and this mixture of the 3 ingredients (the crepe, the chocolate and the cereals) create an amazing experience of eating and taste… hmmm… yummy yummy.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find them in Germany. 🙁 I think they are sold only in France (we’ve bought them from the french retail group Auchan). Next time I’m going to France I’m buying tons of packs of these crepes.

  • REVIEW: Yves Rocher Exfoliating Raspberry Peppermint Shower Gel

REVIEW: Yves Rocher Exfoliating Raspberry Peppermint Shower Gel

    How they describe it:

THE PLEASURE OF AN EXFOLIATING SHOWER GEL WITH 100% FRUIT SEEDS AND ENERGIZING BENEFITS.

Energizing Exfoliating Shower Gel – Raspberry Peppermint

    LES PLAISIRS NATURE

    Cost: 8 €

    What I wanted

This time I really expected from my shower gel 4 things:

    1. To be exfoliating
    2. To smell nice
    3. To be natural, if not BIO at least to approach this standard
    4. To be affordable

There are 2 similar products that I used before and if you click their name, you will find their reviews: Sabon Jasmine (16.00 €) and CLINIQUE Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream (€32.00).

The problem with these 2 is that they are too expensive, they don’t smell very nice and they don’t seem very natural. Both products were great, especially the Clinique one. It really left the skin very very soft and beautiful and I think it is even suitable for troubled skin. But this time I really wanted a cheaper, nicer smelling and more natural product.

My experience with Yves Rocher Exfoliating Shower Gel

I bought this Raspberry Peppermint Shower Gel from Yves Rocher. In the past I also used the coffee shower gel, which I liked, so I hoped I will like this one too.

In terms of quality, it is way beneath Sabon and Clinique. The exfoliating part is not very good (I would have preferred much more exfoliating particles), although it left my skin feeling kind of soft but very dry… extremely dry!

I opened the bottle in the shop and smelled it and it had an average smell, but once I used it, the smell was bad, like puke.

It is an average shower gel, although I think that some drug store shower gels are better. I guess the price is a little bit too high but then again I guess it is more natural than other gels, so this should explain why it is pricey.

    Conclusions

I don’t think I will repurchase it. It is too expensive for what it has to offer and it drys my skin!

I will continue my search in finding the perfect exfoliating shower gel. If I find it, be sure I will let you know!

    Love and kisses!
