Simple and fast long layered haircut

This is my go to haircut. When I want to freshen up my ends, I use this Kristy Maccone technique. It is suitable for long, thin hair in which you want some long smooth layers. Here are the steps to create this long layered haircut. For details check Kristy’s full video.

    1. Section your hair in 4 parts: 2 in front (the line above the ear) and 2 in the back of the head.

    2. Take the back parts and section them once more, each in half.

    3. In the back you have now 4 sections. Lift up each one of them, point your fingers towards the head (as seen in picture below, for that layered effect) and cut above the fingers.

    4. Divide also each one of the front sections, lift them up and cut diagonally just like you did with the others.

This should be a super fast haircut.

Best Youtube Video on How to Professionally Layer Cut Your Own Hair

After I managed to cut in simple layers my hair in an easy way, I felt that my hair needed something more professional, but still simple enough. I found the technique (and successfully tried it twice) on Kristy Maccone’s Youtube Channel. You can also follow Kristy on her Instagram.

So, here is the hair cutting technique:

    1. Sectioning behind the ear

You create two sections in the front of the face. You select the hair as showed in this picture.

    2. Strech each of these sections to the shoulder and cut it where you want.

I just cut my dead ends… half an inch maybe, but it is worth it. Afterwords the hair will definitely look better.

    3. Take the hair in the back, strech it down and cut it straight

Or do the “babushka” cut (in front) if you want a more curved haircut style.

    4. Back to the front sections

This is a trick that I found to be extremely usefull. Tie down the bottom part of each front section and never cut it again in this session.

    5. Layer cutting

If you don’t want to layer cut your hair, you can skip this part. Otherwise, you have to bring up a tiny section of hair from the back and cut it. Do this until you cut all the hair from the back.

Even if you would raise all back hair, it all should be same length.

    6. Front adjusments

One final cut at the same length.
